Good morning! I'm trying something new today - so let's see how this goes. (If it works, I'll do it again. It it doesn't, I won't waste anyone's time with it next time because it's a LOT of work.) What we have here are the leftovers from yesterday's auction. I have heard from a few people that the buyer's premium and other fees the auctioneer adds on (so he can make money and pay for the auctions) are too high - so I'm offering them all here for sale individually. No buyer's premiums. No additional fees. In fact, I'M OFFERING DISCOUNTS: *All the World Silver is 10% off the listed price. *All the World Non-Silver marked $1.00 are now $.75 each. *FREE shipping for any order over $100. Each lot was individually imaged (front and back) for the auction - so the easiest way for you to see exactly what you're buying is to visit the auction link (the auction is over, so I'm not advertising anything different or advertising an upcoming auction) - so here that is: https://www.auctionzip.com/auction-catalog/Coins-US,-Foreign-,-Rare,-Graded,-Type,-Jewelry,-More-3_Q37IBJZ4W1/?page=0&searchWithAll=&size=200&sort= Here is the required "prove you still have the stuff" photo with the username card and today's date (I pulled the first five items out of the storage trays so you weren't just seeing the tops of bags): PHOTO Payment: PayPal. I do not have Venmo/Zello/Bitcoin or any other form of digital payment at this time. Shipping: I will charge you what it costs me for the USPS label rounded up to the nearest dollar. For First Class that is usually $4, for USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Small Box it will be $9. I will get you a tracking number right after payment is received and will get your package scanned into the USPS system within 24 hours of receipt of payment. What do YOU need to do to buy coins from this group: send me a list of which lots you want (for example, I want to buy lots # 51, 52, 53, 54, 55) and I will send you a total. I will do my absolute best to update the ad as soon as lots sell. 2020.09.20 09:05 CastMemberNo1Peace Corps Director of Operations, Volunteer Recruitment and Selection Charged Criminally
Found this when searching Google News for Peace Corps! She seemed like she is pretty high-up in Peace Corps Washington, don't understand why she tried to register to vote in New Hampshire if she lives in Washington D.C. and has no connections there. Appears that she basically misrepresented herself to get an absentee ballot for a state she doesn't live in, though we don't have all the facts yet. Worth noting that a jury of her peers in New Hampshire, a Grand Jury, decided to indicted her on four charges, one of them a felony, https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/09/18/metro/dc-woman-indicted-nh-four-voter-fraud-charges/?outputType=amp. Probably she agrees to a plea deal and does some prision time and/or community service, or she tries to fight the allegations. There isn't anything online stating that she ever lived in New Hampshire. From the article: CONCORD, NH — A Washington, D.C., woman has been indicted on four voter fraud charges after being accused of wrongfully registering to vote in New Hampshire in 2016 and voting during the 2018 general election, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. Mary Kate Lowndes, 57, was indicted on a felony wrongful voting charge, two counts of misdemeanor wrongful voting, and a single count of misusing an absentee ballot. According to prosecutors, Lowndes filed a voter registration form in 2016 claiming to be domiciled at a shopping center on Crystal Avenue in Derry when she actually lived outside of New Hampshire, a misdemeanor charge. Investigators accused her of requesting and receiving an absentee ballot in the Nov. 6, 2018, general election and then casting that ballot. Those accusations constitute a felony and two misdemeanor charges, the state said Friday, due to "knowingly (submitting) a voter registration form containing false material information regarding her qualifications as a voter, and also for a person to make a false material statement regarding her qualifications as a voter when obtaining an official ballot." The indictment was handed down by the state's Multicounty Grand Jury Sept. 18. An arraignment date has not been set. Lowndes faces six to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines. If she is convicted, she will lose any future right to vote in New Hampshire. According to her LinkedIn and Facebook accounts, Lowndes has been the chief of operations, volunteer recruitment and selection for the Peace Corps since May. Previously, she held the positions of Inter-America and Pacific Region and Country Director, Eastern Caribbean since 2015. Lowndes also worked for the org for five years between 1996 and 2001 in the Dominican Republic and volunteered for the org in Honduras between 1989 and 1991. For more than seven years, she was the director of development and special initiatives for the Connecticut Commission on Children. Lowndes appears to have no connection to New Hampshire in any way, according to information online. It is unknown which political party, if any, Lowndes was accused of registering with at the time but according to her Facebook site, she is a supporter of both Joe Biden and the Black Lives Matter organization. Lowndes did not return an instant message via Facebook requesting comment about the case however, about 12 hours after receiving the instant message, she scrubbed her Facebook page of all personal information. The Peace Corps press office did not return a request for comment about the case before post time.
2020.09.18 07:52 Disastrous_Horse_44Ghosted after dating for a year and half...
THIS IS LONG BUT TRULY WEIRD! Part two is funny and I will post soon. This is baffling to me even right now, happened early July. To give you some background, I met this guy through Bumble and we talked for like a month and a half before we met in person. He was super shy when we met (I am super not, friends describe me as awkwardly charming and chatty) but had the most beautiful smile, there was just something about him that made me want to continue to see him. I don’t think he said more than five things the entire time we were there - a Mexican restaurant for dinner but I was so nervous that I downed two Dos Equis (as did he) and filled up on chips and salsa - I also had learned from experience that it might be really, really awkward (as Bumble/Tindeetc.) app match dates can be, so I had eaten a light dinner ahead of our dinner date ha. So we finish up and leave and he’s super sweet, wants to walk me to my car because it’s a huge parking lot and pretty dark. I had just gotten a new car (like three days prior) so I was still learning which car to look for, the car is a dark charcoal color, it’s dark outside, I was a little tipsy (I’m a cheap date) and I’m nervous/anxious because I don’t want to look like the total idiot I am starting to look like because guess who can’t find her car? I swear we walked every row around that complex (there were multiple restaurants clustered together, called Legacy for anyone in the DFW area) before I could find my car. For some reason the alarm button on my remote wouldn’t work, so I couldn’t set the car off and just easily find it. We walked that parking lot for at least 20 minutes, I was mortified. I felt so stupid! On the way back to my apartment, I’m kind of laughing at myself and thinking about what a mess I am, and that I probably wouldn’t hear back from him but not even 20 minutes after our date ended, he texted me! He asked if I wanted to meet at a local sports bar to watch the Stars game (I’m a big hockey fan), to which I excitedly said yes. Thus begins a cute relationship, he’s super sweet and kind of shy - the type of guy that seems like he’s been burned before by a previous relationship and a bit nervous to open up, no problem I’m patient. We went to the Dominican Republic together, Colorado (twice), Padre (twice), Austin, my family’s ranch, a few other spots that were meaningful. Our first big trip was to the Dominican, here is where I find out that he is a total dick when he drinks whiskey. In my experience, most men are total dicks when they drink whiskey. One or two drinks, cool no problem but more than that, guaranteed there will be a problem over nothing. He would get SO jealous over absolutely NOTHING. If he was drinking whiskey, it would get us in trouble. We went out to a bar with friends and there was a skee ball game, I was playing with a girlfriend while my boyfriend and his buddies were right behind us at the bar. My machine wasn’t really working, it would show a score but not the right one and then just turn off, whatever, I’m playing this game and having a good time right? Let me note it’s SUPER loud in this bar, like you had to yell at the person next to you to have a conversation - typically I hate bars like this but I was having fun and pretty tipsy and down for whatever. The manager walked over and put his hand on my back (not in a weird spot, like my shoulder) and leaned into my ear (because it was so loud) to tell me the skee ball machine I was on wasn’t working and gave me a few drink tickets as reimbursement. Boyfriend must have seen this interaction and gotten a VERY different impression. He walked up to me almost immediately after and said we should go somewhere else and I said okay, as we are walking out he says for me to go ahead with his friends that he’d be right there - he picked a fight with the manager of this very popular bar that we liked to go to all because of nothing. I tell you this to give you some context of how exhausting the jealousy thing got. Another time, he came home from work and I was at his house (I work from home) and I had showered earlier and dried my hair and whatnot, I have really thick hair so I usually turn the shower head to the high pressure water setting to get conditioner out of my hair. Instead, boyfriend thinks this means I have had someone over to take a shower with? Because I had also done the laundry, like washed the sheets because guys never do that and it’s gross. So dumb. Fast forward to May 2020. He goes on this annual bear hunt in Idaho with his best friend, basically they sit in below freezing temperatures eating survival packets of food waiting for a black bear that never comes. They went in 2019 for like 5 days I think? And boyfriend drove to a spot to get service every single night so he could call me and tell me they were okay and to tell me goodnight - his best friend he was hunting with didn’t even do this to check in with his wife! So I felt really blessed and thought I was really lucky to have found someone so thoughtful, yeah the jealousy thing was annoying but in time we could get past it, right? Wrong. So this year at the bear hunt he told me he just didn’t have service and talked to me maybe three times total during their 10 day trip. They spent maybe 5 days total hunting and the rest of the trip getting wasted in local dive bars. Boyfriend is an Instagram addict and I can see he keeps logging in, it shows on the message part of Instagram when the person you messaged with was last “active.” So I call him out on it and ask what’s the deal, he says he just hasn’t had service but needs some space - again, I know he’s lying about having service but he asks for space and he’s on a guy trip so okay, I’ll respect that (but it’s just SO different from how he was last year on the same trip!). When he gets back, things are totally fine, he’s himself and sweet and we are good. Then Covid hit and he lost his job - a job frankly he hated and bitched about 24/7 so I thought it was a blessing in disguise. He was super committed to finishing the neighborhood he was working on and then was going to look for a new job, but now I figured he could find something else that he actually enjoyed and sooner! Hallelujah I don’t have to listen to him bitch about this job anymore, I was always supportive and listened but it was starting to wear on me. Then it’s July. Boyfriends twin brother is getting married in another state. I have epilepsy and in the state of Texas, if you have a seizure you can’t drive for three months after. So my boyfriend had to do all of the driving, which was already pretty normal because 1. I’m a horrible driver and 2. He prefers to drive anyway - we go to the wedding in the other state, everything is great and we come back a couple days later. I don’t have my car so I need boyfriend to take me back to my place. But each time he was supposed to take me, something popped up or there was something going on, this went on for like a week. So we’d been together for nearly 18 days in a row at this point without a break, which was a lot for us. He also had a roommate and his best friend (the bear hunting married friend, who ended up divorced) was partially living at the house too. So I get it, it was a lot of people under one small, very old roof. I could have ubered home, but it was going to be like $100 and money it really tight right now for me. My friends were all working and I was sort of stuck. My cousin was getting married sometime in the beginning of July (can’t remember the date) but it was like a week or so after we returned from Colorado. We for some reason are asked to go to the rehearsal dinner, we aren’t in the wedding but hey, sounds fun we will be there. Well the only thing to drink was Bud Light or the house made Margaritas (Joe T Garcia’s) because we were in like a entertaining location, not the actual restaurant. I hate Bud Light, Margs give me heartburn but fuck it I want to have fun. I think I had three of these margaritas (if you haven’t had Joe T’s, these are superrrr strong margaritas, not for the weak, like me) so I’m teetering on drunk when we leave, I’m feeling awesome-sauce! I will admit that liquor historically has allllways made me a bit feisty, especially if I’m with a boyfriend. All was well until like a block before we got to his house, he said something super racist and I can’t even remember what he said but I bit his head off over it. We are 28 years old, grow up. So now when we get to the house I’m still pissed off - I shower and go sleep in the guest room after crying for like 45 minutes (I know that was a dramatic overreaction on my part, I was drunk and I don’t drink often, still was stupid of me). The next day we both apologize to each other but boyfriend is trying to back out of going to the wedding altogether. Wtf no. He was at the dinner the night before, I asked if I could bring him because there wasn’t a “plus one” on the invitation, so it would have been really inconsiderate for him to be a no show. After going back and forth allllll day, we go to the wedding. He doesn’t even want to stay for the first dance, which I really wanted to, I love dancing at weddings, especially family weddings because I am a terrible dancer and it’s family so I don’t care! But no. We leave because “my best friend is at the house and my roommate is home and they are having so much fun and I want to be there too wah wah wah” so we leave the wedding and drive the hour back to his house. Next morning he was supposed to drive me home - instead popped up at like 9 am, zipped out the door with the guys to get breakfast and to go play golf. He doesn’t get home until like 6 pm...and he is wasted. I’m annoyed but whatever, I figure he can just take me home tomorrow, but no he wants to take me home right now - which I live 45 minutes-ish away, he’s drunk so no way am I letting him drive all that way. His friends are even telling him it’s not a big deal. Instead, he throws a temper tantrum. So I call my Dad last resort) to come get me. My boyfriend is fuming because I won’t let him drive me, I won’t let him pay for an Uber (he had already spent so much on all those trips and now he didn’t have a job) and now my Dad was on the way to pick me up. So he gets his dog, his best friend and they just get in his truck and are about to leave without saying a word to me. I walk outside and he’s about to back out of the drive way, I hold up my hands like “what the fuck are you doing??” And he came inside while the dog and the friend waited in the truck and just stared at the ground, I have never seen so much anger in someone’s eyes. And that was the last time we spoke! He literally didn’t respond to any texts, any calls, any messages on social, NOTHING. He finally texted me and said I could get my stuff and move out on this date or this date and that was it!!! What kind of person does this?? I was nothing but good to him. Did his laundry, cleaned his house, made dinner for him and all his buddies, I went hunting for the first time with him, tried golfing, I feel like I did everything I could have done to make him happy but clearly I didn’t. He told me that he loved me, I believed him at the time but now I feel like it was all bullshit. If you love someone, how can you totally ignore them for months? Their calls and texts telling you how much they love you and miss you and don’t know what is happening but want to fix it? Part two I will post soon. I let my crazy show a little bit. I still didn’t get any answers but I did get some sweet satisfaction.
2020.09.16 20:22 KeyisonstanbiI'm heavily crushing on my Bestieee
Okay for context i've know her for 5 years and i came out to her this year. We established some "rules" a couple months ago one of them being that bestie is off limits unless she says so., buttt he's the kicker. Whenever we're together she'll lay all over me(sit on my lap, lay her head on my butt, etc.), flirt, act hella gay, and suppperrrr seductivee. When we're on FT she'll angle her camera so that all i can see is her culo and thighs andd boyyy is she thickkk. Anywhooo She calls me her baby to everyone including her mom and sisters. I felt like she was bi curious but i'm scared to askkk(im positive she is now, but keep reading). Anywhoo fast forward to 3 weeks ago she proposed a pact. "If we are still single by 35, then we date each other". Whennnn i tell you my heart startedd racinnnnngggg. I sluggishly said sure, as to not sound desperate and she giggled and kept on talking. I have no fucking clue what she said but mannnn was i excitedd.. We hung out on the 5th and boyyy did a lot happen. I was laying on her bed and she came up behind me, put her leg around my body, and start cuddling meeeee. After our other friend came, who is a pastor's grand daughter, she calmed it down. Fast forward to when we were at the mall, the three of us, they started talking about " They gay agenda" It was soooo awkwarddd.... bestie was saying alll kinds of hurtful shit but ik she was just trying not to appear gay. But stilll it hurttt😭😭After that kinda gave up on usss. GUYYSSSSSS WHENNN WE WEREEE IN THEE CARRRR😫😫😫😫 she kissed me on the checked right before i left. I would've blushed if I wasn't a black Dominican girl. 🤣🤣🤣 Fast forward again to couple days ago she said i'm the only girl she would date and wooowww bi panicccc. In conclusion i wanna ask her out but i'm scared to get rejected. I'm probably just going to wait until we're 35😭😭😭. Sorry for the rambley rant vibe i'm just reallly going through it. Any advice is good advice thankkkkssss
2020.09.16 16:34 Scared-TieTony had a problem with Noah but not with AJ’s girlfriends
Tony didn’t have a problem with Blanca but Noah was bad? This just occurred to me not too long ago but, I can’t help but notice Tony’s hypocrisy with AJ dating Blanca vs Meadow dating the Hasidic Homeboy. As much as I hate Noah, Tony’s terrible treatment of him really backfired. Noah had very dark skin which was probably an immediate red flag for Tony, and Tony knew he was a minority. Blanca on the other hand was from the Dominican Republic/Puerto Rico, and despite having a dark complexion she was a lot lighter. Also Blanca was Catholic which helped her case, Noah on the other hand was Jewish. Anyways to me Blanca always looked part Black, which is highly likely considering the high number of people who are of African descent from the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean. So basically Tony was ok with his son dating a girl who was part black, but not ok with his daughter dating Noah who was half black? Seems odd to me.
2020.09.15 18:16 ZenMasta61OOTP 21 Franchise Startup Guide: Part 4
Links to part 1, part 2, and part 3. 5.) Increasing Budget This is the most important part of the game. Having more money makes everything easier. With more money you can sign big free agents, take on bad salary in trades to acquire good players, sign impossible to sign draft picks, and extend your good young players. If you aren’t trying to max out your budget, you’re playing the game wrong. A.) Fan Interest Fan interest is influenced by two things: winning and transactions involving popular players. The more you win; the higher fan interest will be. If you acquire popular players fan interest will increase, but it will decrease when they leave the team. Fan interest decays over time and the rate of decay is determined by fan loyalty. Higher fan loyalty means slower decay. High fan loyalty also helps prevent the loss of fan interest when losing popular players. Fan loyalty is increased by consistently winning games over multiple seasons. Players with the “Fan Favorite” personality can also help increase/maintain fan interest, but I’m not 100% sure how they affect it. In addition to the fan interest rating there is also a “fan interest modifier” rating hidden in the editor. This is a short-term fan interest modifier that is added to your fan interest rating. This is actually where the boost from signing popular players is added to, and I’m pretty sure winning the World Series adds a pretty big boost to this. Signing or trading for popular players provides a fan interest boost, but so does re-signing your players. This is important to remember when salary arbitration starts. Re-signing a player to a one-year deal will provide a fan interest boost, but letting a player go to arbitration will not. Also, letting a player go to arbitration decreases their morale, so you should try to avoid arbitration cases. B.) Ticket Prices This is pretty simple. Higher fan interest allows you to charge more for ticket prices. Higher ticket prices increase your revenue. Increased revenue results in a higher budget. Ticket prices can be changed at any point during the season. I would recommend trying to keep prices so that your stadium is right below capacity. This gives you good attendance, which can eventually lead to an increase in market size, while also getting a good amount of money per ticket. Season tickets are sold from the end of the winter meetings until the start of the regular season, so be sure to set this price before the winter meetings end. I would recommend setting it at about 150% of what you usually sell tickets for. You won’t sell nearly as many season tickets at this price, but it will boost the average ticket price significantly. With this method you’re usually going to get a budget increase at the start of the preseason, but it’s artificial. You’re not going to be able to sell all of your tickets at the season ticket price. Therefore, I would recommend not spending all of the money allowed from your new preseason budget or you might end up over budget. You’ll get a better feel for this after a few seasons and be able to gauge about how much of this additional budget you can spend. 6.)Contract Extensions A.) Players to Extend There are no hard rules on which players you should extend. As with most things in this game it’s dependent on your team’s strengths and weaknesses, and also on the specific player’s extension demands. At the beginning of the offseason I ask every player about an extension to see who wants what. Most minimum scale or arbitration eligible players will only want one-year deals, but some will propose a multi-year extension, which indicates they will be very easy to extend. I’ve seen a lot of people suggest that you should sign your good young players to ten-year extensions as soon as they hit the majors, but I would recommend against this for the most part. You never know what the league or your team is going to look like in 2-3 years, let alone in ten years, so it’s best to maintain flexibility. Also, I want a couple of years of MLB stats before I commit to a player long term. I usually don’t look to extend players until their first arbitration eligible offseason. Except in extreme cases, like with a generational talent, I try not to extend anyone for more than six years (not including team options). For young guys I try not to let the guaranteed years run beyond their early thirties. I try to avoid extending players that can only play one position. If a player slips a bit defensively you want the option to move him to an easier defensive position. If you sign a first baseman long term that’s not an option. I’m perfectly fine signing a first baseman to one-year deals until they hit free agency. Sure, you can always trade a player that you’ve signed to a multi-year deal, but it’s much easier to trade someone on a one-year deal. B.) When to Extend This section focuses more on veteran players you’re trying to extend. Usually players have extreme extension demands during spring training/the beginning of the season, but they decrease as the season progresses. If you keep a close eye on guys you can get them for a good price when they’re in a bit of a slump. This is especially true for relievers; if they hit a rough patch you can get them for as low as half-price. If a player never proposes a reasonable extension during the season you should just wait for free agency. C.) Offering Extensions When negotiating with players that want a long-term extension, I usually wait for the player to offer something reasonable and then reduce the AAV slightly, remove a year, and turn the last year into a team option. If possible front load the contract; you always want future flexibility. Negotiating with youngsters that don’t propose a long-term deal is difficult. I would start by looking at the team “Salaries” page and see what his arbitration estimates are. Then I would try to find comparable players that recently signed on the open market. Take the average of the three arbitration estimates and the AAV from contracts of players that recently signed on the open market and average those two numbers. Lower that number by a few million and use it as the AAV for a six-year extension. Adjust the weight of the arbitration and open market AAV averages appropriately if offering a different amount of years. If adding team options, you will need to increase the AAV a bit. Make sure to use common sense though! This method is not fool proof and should only be used a general guide! 7.)Making Trades A.) Players Ineligible for Trades When making trades you should be aware of these players that are ineligible for trades: players that were just drafted in the current season, players in the international complex, and veterans with ten years of MLB service and five years with their current team. So, if you’re wanting to include that top prospect from your international complex in a trade, you’ll first need to promote him to one of your minor league teams. B.) AI Trade Offers These are usually terrible, one-sided offers. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an AI trade offer I would accept, but they are useful for letting you know which players the AI is interested in. Most of the time these are obvious top prospects of yours, but other times they’re lower rated players. For the lower rated players this could let you on to the fact that a player is playing out of position, is “on the way up”, or is improperly rated by the AI and needs to be traded ASAP for maximum return. What I mean by “on the way up” is a player that is rapidly increasing in potential and will probably continue this trend. If you look at a player’s scouting report history and see that he has gone from a 20 potential to a 50 potential in a short period of time (without changing position), he’s probably experiencing some serious talent change randomness and needs to be kept. C.)Buy or Sell? Should you sell off your MLB veterans for prospects, or should you package your prospects for veterans that can help you win now? The answer to both of these questions is maybe, because every situation is different, and you shouldn’t lock yourself into one strategy. Let’s say you have the opportunity to make this trade: Outgoing: - Top three pitching prospects (60, 55, 50 potential) - 25-year-old OF that just put up 4 WAR (55 overall) - 29-year-old 3B that just put up 7 WAR (75 overall) Incoming: - 30-year-old starting pitcher that just put up 5 WAR (60 overall) At first glance it looks like you’re not getting a very fair deal. You’re sending out the best player in the deal, another good young player, and three top prospects for a 30-year-old pitcher. The pitcher is good, but is he worth all of that? Well, it depends on the rest of the details. Of the three pitching prospects, one is fragile and the other two have had multiple moderate injuries the last two years. Fragile starting pitchers are only valuable as trade pieces, and pitchers that start racking up nagging injuries in the minors probably aren’t going to last long in the majors (if they even make it). Sure, these players could beat the odds and have long and productive MLB careers, but why would I take that chance? The 25-year-old OF is good, but he’s nothing special, and I can replace him. He’s also coming up on his first arbitration year, so this is my last opportunity to trade him before he gets too expensive for some teams. The 3B is awesome, and I would love to keep him, but he wants 8/280 to re-sign, and I have a guy that can fill the position in the minors. I just don’t feel comfortable committing to that amount of money. The starting pitcher has 6/144 remaining on his contract, but with all that I’ve added to the deal the other team is willing to retain half of that. Six years at any amount might make some people feel uncomfortable, but $12,000,000 a year can be moved if you have to, and worst-case scenario you just release him at the end of the deal. When you dig deeper on the pitcher though, this deal becomes a no brainer (at least for me). He has all six positive character attributes, he’s a captain, has iron man durability, has never had an injury of any kind, he’s a groundball pitcher, has at least a 55 in all of his ratings, and throws 4 pitches. He’s exactly what I want in a player. To make it even better, I looked at his past stats and scouting history and found that he was rated a 70 overall less than two years ago and his stats were much better too. He had signed as a free agent with a team that didn’t fit his talents nearly as well, and his ratings and production dropped accordingly. (So, always make sure to check a player’s scouting history and past stats. Scouts can be prisoners of the moment and tell you a player is worse than what he really is if he has a down year.) The first season with my team the pitcher put up ~6 WAR, which I was very happy with, and then the second season he put up almost 8 WAR and won the Cy Young. His overall rating went back up to 70 as his production increased and he continued to produce at an elite level for the duration of the deal. I ended up re-signing him for four more years, and then three more years, and he finally fell off a cliff at 42 years old. So, it’s perfectly ok to deal for older players on long term deals, it just depends on the specifics of the players in the deal. The situation I just described worked out perfectly for me because there was a player like that to trade for, but what if there’s no one out there like that to acquire? You could go the other way with the third baseman and trade him for prospects, or you could just let him play out the year and take your chances in free agency, with worst-case being you get a comp pick for him. The outfielder doesn’t have to be moved because you have three more arbitration years available, but if you want to move him you can always flip him for prospects. As for the pitching prospects, you could turn them into useful MLB players, like good bullpen guys, or you could move laterally and trade them for less injury prone minor leaguers. There is no one best strategy, it’s just about evaluating your teams’ strengths and weaknesses and making the best trades you can. D.)Make This Work Now When you’re at the trade screen trying to work out a deal there’s a very handy button near the middle of the screen that says, “Make this work now”. Pressing this button will give you a list of players you can add to the trade to complete the deal. It will not tell you a package of players the other team would accept, only one player that would complete the deal. If you would rather give the other team a package of players, you can still use the “Make this work now” button to help you find out what the other team wants. Start by getting the other team to agree to a trade, even if you have no interest in agreeing to the trade. Then ask the other team to retain salary or include additional prospects until they won’t accept the deal. You can then click “Make this work now” again and it will give you a list of lesser players the other team is interested in. From this list you can attempt to build a package of players the other team will accept for the original trade. In addition to using the “Make this work now” button, you can also attempt to make trades work by adding cash or retaining salary. Opposing teams seem to prefer you retaining salary over adding cash, but sometimes a couple million dollars cash will be enough to complete a trade. When retaining salary, you should try to avoid retaining anything long term. This is dead money that cannot be moved. Retaining salary for one-year deals is a good idea a lot of times because it’s essentially the same as adding cash, there’s no long-term commitment. E.)Maximizing Trade Return Always make sure to get the most you can out of a trade. This might mean getting the other team to retain $100,000 in salary, add in $500,000 cash, or throw in a low rated prospect. All of these small things add up over time. F.)Undervalued/overvalued Prospects When trading prospects I like to try to find guys that are improperly valued by other teams. On the trade screen you can look at a list of every prospect in a team’s organization and sort by potential based on your scout’s ratings or OSA’s ratings. What I do is first sort by potential based OSA’s ratings, and then swap to my scout’s ratings. The players will remain in the same order, but now you can see which players are “out of order” and are rated drastically different by OSA and your scout. If you see a guy that is “out of order” like this you might be able to acquire him for cheap, or if he’s on your team you might be able to move him for more than he’s worth. 8.)Injury Prevention I cover the first two points here in sections above, but I’m going to go over them again because injury prevention is just that important. Injured players provide no value to your team, and if they get injured too many times, they can become negative value. Keep your players healthy so they can provide value on the field or as trade assets. A.) Player Durability/Injury History Avoid injury prone players like the plague and try to acquire durable players. Make sure to also look at injury history to see if a player is trending towards being listed as fragile or wrecked. I go into more detail on this in the “Injury Proneness” section above. B.) Trainer Hire the best trainer available and make sure he specializes in injury prevention. Every time a player is injured, they are more likely to get injured again, so prevent injuries! There is more information on this in the “Trainer” section above. C.) Playing Time I don’t see this mentioned by as many people as I do injury proneness and trainer ratings, but it’s just as important. The more players play, the more they get fatigued, and the more likely they are to get injured. I would recommend putting a pitch count of 100 on all your starting pitchers and having your starting position players play no more than 9/10 games. I would not play a catcher more than 6/7 games, but only playing 4/5 games is much safer. You might think that you can’t afford to have your star CF play only 146 games, but it’s a lot better than him only playing 50 games because he’s hurt. Also, most players end up putting up very similar stats compared to if they played 162 games because when they do play, they’re more rested. 9.) Minor League Management I’ll preface this by saying that I am not a minor league management expert. If you think you know a lot of about minor league management and disagree with something I’ve wrote here, you’re probably right. I try to spend the least amount of time possible dealing with my minor league teams once the season starts. I probably don’t get the absolute most out of every player that comes through my system, but I do think I create a good environment for my top prospects to develop. I usually produce 3-4 MLB-ready prospects every year. A.) General Settings I would recommend enabling ghost players. Managing your minors can become very tedious and time consuming, and this option allows you to pay a little less attention to them. If your roster does not have enough players the CPU will play a “ghost player”, which is just a replacement level player, instead of forcing you to adjust your roster every time someone is injured. I would also recommend making the Dominican Rookie League available to players of all nationalities and change the start date to the same as the other rookie leagues. This makes minor league management a lot less complicated. B.) Number of Teams Some organizations have fewer minor league teams than others, and it can make things difficult if you have too few teams. The Marlins for instance only have seven teams, with only two of those being rookie league teams. I would make sure you have at least eight minor league teams, with at least three of those being rookie league teams. If playing a fictional league, I set every team to have this amount of minor league teams: 1 AAA, 1 AA, 2 A, 4 R. C.) Coaches Minor league coaches are very important. They can have a big impact on the development of your prospects. For all coaches try to get ones that match your organizational philosophy and have good development influence, in that order. i.) Manager Try to find managers with a controlling personality to keep all the youngsters in check. I wouldn’t worry too much about the manager style, but make sure they have good development influence. ii.) Hitting Coach I’ve tried a couple of different approaches here, but I seem to get the best results with neutral hitting coaches throughout my organization. I believe this is due to my defensive focus when drafting, which leads to me taking whatever batting ratings happen to come along a lot of times. The other approach is to have contact focus at R, patience focus at A, and power focus at AA and AAA. This allows your players to develop each of their different skills as they progress through the system. iii.) Pitching Coach You should have pitching coaches of the same focus at every level of your organization. For me this is groundball focus. Make sure to hire coaches with good development influence. D.) Roster Construction In the “Draft” section I go over how many players I take at each position during the draft: 3 catchers, 7 infielders, 6 outfielders, and the rest pitchers. I clear out my lowest minor league team at the beginning of each season and use it as the landing spot for the majority of these draft picks. The only time I start a player at a level higher than R is if he’s a very advanced prospect, like a 40+ overall when drafted. For the most part you don’t know which players are good, and which aren’t, so just throw them all in R and see who climbs their way out. i.) Pitchers I keep 16 pitchers total at each level, except for the lowest R team when I have excess from the draft. Make sure at least five of these can function as starters, but it never hurts to have a couple more than that. ii.) Batters As stated above I keep 3 catchers, 7 infielders, and 6 outfielders. Make sure at least two of these guys can play high level shortstop, and two can play high level center field. E.) Player Strategy i.) Pitchers I only set game strategies for pitchers that I think having a chance of reaching the majors. For starters I set a batter count of 18 and bench them if they have at least a minimal injury. Pitcher performance falls off after the second time through the lineup, so an 18-batter count will prevent them from seeing batters a third time. This results in increased performance, morale, and development. I set a pitch count of 30 on relievers and bench them if they have at least a minimal injury. The 30-pitch count keeps relievers from pitching too much while fatigued, resulting in increased performance, morale, and development. There is no good reason to let a legitimate pitching prospect pitch in the minors while injured. ii.) Batters With the way I draft, I usually end up with a lot of players with limited experience at the position they will be best at, so I force start someone at every position on my R level “landing” team. If they’ve adequately picked up the position their first year, I then force start them at a different position their second year. Depending on the player I will do this with a third position their second year. The goal is to have players capable of playing multiple positions before they reach the majors. For players that didn’t start their rookie year, I just start the force start process a year later. F.) Promotion/Demotion I hardly ever demote players. It’s usually either promotion, repeat a level, or release. For most players I try to give them three years in R before releasing them. If they reach an A or above level, I try to give them two years at that level before releasing them. Every player is different though. Some will develop a bit later, so don’t just blindly release players that haven’t graduated from R in three years. I wait until the beginning of the regular season to make non-MLB promotions. This allows me the most scouting reports possible to make my decisions. I start at AA and work my way down to R, first promoting players that “have” to be called up and then promoting other players as needed. After the players that “have” to be called up have been promoted I start a process of going back and forth between levels and promoting players as needed. For example, I’ll look at my AAA team and see I only have 5 outfielders, which means someone has to be called up from AA. There are 8 outfielders in AA, so I have plenty to call up, but I’ll need to get rid of one more player in AA or AAA to have 6 at each level. I have a fragile player in AAA, so I get rid of him and promote two AA guys to AAA. I then repeat this process for every level, going one “position” at a time (catcher, outfield, infield, pitcher). Try not to promote players unless they deserve it. It’s ok to have a 32-year-old playing in AAA. I rarely promote players midseason unless they’re a top prospect and are just annihilating a level (6-7+ WAR pace). I like to have a full season of stats before I make a decision. I also very rarely let players skip a level. The most common reason for doing this is talent change randomness. If a player gets a huge talent boost in the offseason he might be fine going from A to AAA or R to AA. Most of my top prospects are promoted from AA to MLB. AAA is more of an MLB reserve team. If a player gets stuck at AAA, he’s probably trade bait. i.) Pitchers For pitchers I’m primarily looking at FIP, IP, and ratings. FIP of 2 gets promoted, 3 probably gets promoted, 4+ probably doesn’t need to be promoted. You need to look at IP to make sure the player didn’t put up a good FIP, but only pitched three innings. I know this sounds obvious, but after sorting through FIPs long enough you can sometimes forget to check the obvious. Then you need to look at ratings as a kind of sanity check. If you have a 25/25 player with a slightly better FIP than a 25/45 player, you should definitely be promoting the 25/45 player. You shouldn’t be promoting capped out players at the expense of real prospects. For MLB call-ups you need these minimum ratings: 40 movement and 35 control. If you don’t have at least 40 movement you’re going to get lit up, and if you don’t have at least 35 control you’re going to give up too many walks to be useful. ii.) Batters For Batters I’m first doing a quick glance at WAR, and then I’m looking at wOBA, ISO, wRC+, OPS+, and ratings. I know that most of my guys are going to play good defense because of the way I draft. The question is, can they hit the ball? I look at WAR real quick to see if anyone jumps out. 3+ WAR probably gets called up, and 2+ WAR might get called up. I look at the other stats to make sure they’re not accumulating all of their WAR from defense. If they are below league average in wOBA, ISO, wRC+, and OPS+ they probably don’t need to be called up. I linked to the fangraph pages for wOBA and ISO, so you can see the league averages for those there. League average for wRC+ and OPS+ are both 100. Then I look at the ratings to make sure I’m not promoting a capped-out player over someone with potential. For catchers you might have to accept below average hitting, and their WAR will probably be a bit lower also. For MLB call-ups you need at least 40 contact to survive, unless you have Joey Gallo power. Sometimes you can make an exception for an elite defensive catcher or shortstop, but they need to be truly elite. 10.) International Complex A.) Overview The international complex is the landing spot for all of your scouting discoveries and international amateur FA signings. You can have up to 50 players here, and they can remain until they are 20 years old. At 20 the AI auto-promotes them to your lowest minor league team. Outside of international amateur FA signings and a few random players, I wouldn’t expect too much from players here. You have no control over the type of players your scout finds, or what kind of character attributes they have, so you’ll probably end up with a lot of low character guys that don’t fit your system. B.) When to Promote Players I would recommend keeping players in the complex until they are at least 18 or will turn 18 during the season. Unless you have a generational talent, there’s really not much benefit to bringing them up before that, unless you’re bringing them up with the intention of using them in a trade. I promote players on opening day. 11.) Additional Suggestions A.) Automatic Evolution This can result in some interesting changes to your league, but a lot of them are annoying. I would recommend disabling this until you’re a bit more familiar with the game. I’m not sure why it’s on by default. B.) Two-Way Players I would recommend disabling this option. Successful two-way players are extremely rare, and if you’re smart you won’t let your players play both ways. They are significantly more likely to get injured due to the increased playing time, which results in them not properly developing. If you leave the option enabled the CPU will continue to attempt to develop them, unsuccessfully, which gives you an advantage because your top prospects aren’t getting run into the ground. 2020.09.14 03:41 SciencesmithGuy I am seeing has many Red flags. Should I run?
I met this guy on match.com. From the beginning I did not trust him since he had flaked on me prior to our meeting. On our first date he said he liked me and wanted to see me again the next day. I tried to play it cool and we hung out later that week. Second date he told me he forgot his wallet and if I could pay he would send me the money. I told him no and to go home and get his wallet. Which he did I recall he paid with cash. That date he convinced me that we drive to my place. He lives in northern NJ and I live in central NJ about an hour away (I am from northern NJ). So he came over, we slept in the same bed, did not have sex). Second date we decide to be exclusive. he came on strong and I went along with it. I did not entirely trust him. Anyway he kept exhibiting behavior that made me think there was someone else. Finally he admitted he was going to marry a girl from China who was being deported for 25k. I thought this was crazy since he is a lawyer and makes good money so why would he jeopardize his license by doing something illegal? I also searched for him on the NY attorney database and he didn't come up. I asked him about it in a less than tactful way and he became very upset, states he was licensed recently so it is not active on website. I have seen him at work and seen his boss on facetime. Anyway I told him I would not talk to him if he continued w Chinese girl. So he claims to have broken it off, no more mention of her, and he showed me texts of breaking it off. Which I accepted. Anyway he also said he was falling in love with me and never felt like this. He also has another female friend who we were going to hang out with in NYC who paid for our hotel room. And the chinese girl had rented him a car. I felt he was possibly a con artist having all these girls w money buy him stuff. I have a good job, and nice things, but dont have money. I told him that and I have never given him anything. He still wants to spend time with me. he has asked to live in my house and use my car both of which I said no. He claims to own condo in Hoboken (expensive town in NJ). So we were going to go to Dominican Republic (where he is from) and I did some next level sleuthing. Anyway it turns out he and Chinese girl have mortgage. Chinese girl has a lot of money so likely she is paying for condo he is not. He says she does not live there and went back with her ex. Chinese girl is also crazy and will become verbally and physically abusive when upset. Also he bought a porsche. I doubted it was his - thought he got it from a friend. Then he admits chinese girl gave him a lot of money to get it and other ex gf Sunita name is on the insurance. Also he drinks a lot. Several times he drank in the morning stating he was anxious. He promised he would stop drinking and admits he has a problem with it. he has not been successful in cutting down (he does not get drunk will drink just to take edge off anxiety). Anyway his finances are still tied up with Chinese girl and both names are on condo mortgage and she bought him a car. he has called her in front of me and told her he is with me. Chinese girl actually sent me a message on linked in that he is a pos and I can have him. However he has taken so much money from her I am assuming plan is on to marry her in November however he says he wants to get away from her. (when she is mad she will hit him and yell and call police). Anyway I tried to verify his law degree and found the school he claimed to go to he actually went to for one semester only. I confronted him about this. he admitted the story to me and began to cry. States his gf cheated on him and he was suicidal and hospitalized so had to withdraw. Also admits a girl filed a title 9 complaint against him. So because he missed too much class and had this complaint against him he left the school. Then went to a new school but did not disclose complaint, when school found out he was expelled. So he ended up going to a really shitty online law school and is not a licensed attorney but has some type of provisional certificate for next three years. Also he takes adderall in AM and klonopin for sleep. He will drive an hour to see me whenever I let him. I think he likes me. i also have a tiny suspicion he is gay and in closet because of the substance abuse, and some of his mannerisms, and using women for money, and he has a friend who is gay. He also has sort of said "woo" when he sees NYPD police. Also he has told me he has erectile problems during intercourse and will sometimes lose hard on when having sex with a woman and has only risked having sex with 2 women who he really trusted. I also think he may have problem maintaining erection w woman due to lack of desire. We have not had sex but whenever he comes over he is all over me and we have had oral sex and he has alway climaxed. I am a complete fool because I still talk to him. He has promised to go to rehab. Should I do all I can to get away from him? Or can this be redeemed? Guy I am seeing claims to love me but has A LOT of red flags. Should I run away now or give him a chance?
